pros:
1. one month free means i'll really only be paying a little over 1,000 a month, pretty much a steal in this area
2. open floorplan
3. relatively larger closet space
4. about the same size as my current place
5. about 100 steps from my office
cons:
1. can't see it until june 29
2. no clear demarcation between "bedroom" and "living room"
3. no balcony for the psycho cat
4. even with savings on gas, not as cheap as the other option

monthly rent: $960.00 this 7th floor unit will be available july 15, 2008. a great 7th floor loft with balcony. this loft is a great open space, yet it can easily be separated to create a more intimate feel. the original structural column in the center of the room adds character and charm. enjoy the fresh air on your balcony that overlooks the atrium. you will enjoy the open vanity area, utility area and large closet space. this is a one of a kind at 1900 elm.

2. unusual floor plan and "charming, character-giving structural column" kind of makes layout awkward

Sorry both are still unavailable for viewing. :( That def doesn't help. Based on floorplans and commentary, I vote option 1. Seems easier to divide up into separate spaces, and psycho cat doesn't need a balcony to consider jumping off. Although I bet Moo might be trying to talk her into it.
